Beautiful story of sportsmanship!

Sunday was a big playoff semifinal match for Riverains Midget A and we witnessed a fantastic moment that demonstrates the essence of hockey.

The Riverains faced their rivals HRS while the last game of the season between the two clubs ended in a 4-1 defeat and a loss of fair play with a very large number of penalties. Riverains have made the commitment to start the last game of the season by playing hockey, real hockey.

Yesterday was a good example with only 1 penalty in the match of great intensity and rivalry and with sustained encouragement from both groups of supporters.

The Riverains finally won in overtime in the total euphoria. HRS left the ice quickly, but what a surprise when we arrived in the corridors leading to the rooms in St-Lazare to see the HRS goalkeeper come forward to congratulate us followed by his players and coaches. A unique moment, without referees or spectators, engraved in the memory of the coaches and I am convinced of that of the players. For HRS, I was only able to give them an appointment for the regional final by sincerely wishing that the stars align themselves.

- David Gilbert, Coach Midget A

Changes in the classification for Peewee level

Please take note it was decided to go with 1 A team, 2 B teams and 1 C teams for the single letter peewee level. Schedule will be changed accordingly shortly.

September 23 2018

Tryouts Status

We wanted to clarify a few points that have come up concerning the process and the rest of the camp. As many of you have questions due to changing information.

Double Letters
The teams will be done by Sept 24th

Single Letters

Coaches:
As previously mentioned we are finalizing coaching for single letters this week and will conduct interviews when needed. The draft will be the weekend of Sept 27th with equilibrium games happening that weekend. Teams will be final on Oct 1st.

Evaluations

We also had several questions regarding the non-presence of Hockey etc. and our head coach at this week's practices - this was planned since the preliminary assessments have been done. The practices this week were to balance groups and evaluate children who were not present at last week's sessions.

Classification
At the atom level, following the high numbers of registrations, we had to review team classification following Hockey Quebec regulations.

Our initial estimates had fewer players at the Atom level. Here are the teams that will be formed based on the total registrations:

Atom: 2A, 2B, 1C

For the other groups here is the composition of the teams:

Peewee: 2A, 1B, 1C
Bantam: 1A, 1B
Midget: 1A, 2B

Personnel availability
We have made every effort to be present at the arena for as many practices and games as possible as we know that there are many questions. Unfortunately, we cannot be there all the time. Please rest assured that if you send an email to info@hmip.org your questions will be answered and if necessary a phone call can be made as well.

Rest assured we are taking notes to improve the process and communication going forward. Thanks for your patience and have a good end of camp.

The schedule is now available on our schedule section. Please note that week 2 will be modified as needed for games.

Double letter

For the double letter selection camps: ALL registered hockey players will benefit from 6 hours of development with the Hockey Etcetera team as part of the selection camp. Following the six hours, the players who will be selected will continue with exhibition games and the others will be invited to join the single letter selection camps. There will be games that will combine hockey players from the single letter camp with those who are registered double letters. This is to ensure that players are categorized into the appropriate groups.

We plan to make 4 teams:
- Atom AA (Mandatory by Hockey Quebec)
- Peewee BB
- Bantam BB
- Midget BB

The double letter teams will be finalized by September 24th.

Single letter

For the single letters (Atom to Midget): You will receive an email before September 6th to inform you in which group has been assigned to your hockey player. Please be sure to respect the schedule associated with your child’s assigned group.

Single letter teams will be finalized by October 1st at the latest.

For Novice: The MAHG program will start on September 7th and ends on October 7th. The teams will be made in the week following the end of MAHG. For any questions and / or comments regarding Novice, please contact the coordinator directly: Michael Champoux: coordinator-novice@hmip.org

New Classification for the 2018-2019 season

As you have potentially already heard, Hockey Lac St-Louis presented to us the modifications that will be brought forward to the Associations for classification for the 2018-2019 season.

Based on the new rules from Hockey Lac St-Louis, HMIP and the other Associations from the Grenadiers structure, will bring back AA & BB levels from Atom to Midget beginning for the 2018-2019 season.

Based on this decision, here are a few points towards where the C.A. will focus on for next season:

 - Training camp for ALL, including Double Letters, will only start after the Labor Day weekend in September and not in August like previous years. Our members families will be able to benefit a bit more of their summer seeing camps will not start as early.
 - Having only one Association under one umbrella, this will be easier to manage overall operational costs.
 - Additional ice time for our members!

Please stay tuned as more information will be coming out during the summer, please be assured that we will keep you updated with regular email and website updates as we receive them.

AHMIP Annual NHL Hockey Pool Fundraiser 2017-2018

AHMIP would like to invite you to participate once again in our annual NHL Hockey Pool Fundraiser!
This fundraiser is a very important part of the association’s goal to offer a fun, educational and empowering hockey experience to our local youth. The funds raised will be split 50% to the association and 50% split between the winners. We have decided to add the participant in last place to the list as a consolation prize. See below for the breakdown for the winners

  • 1st place: 30%
  • 2nd place: 20%
  • 3rd place: 15%
  • 4th place: 10%
  • 5th place: 10%
  • 6th place: 10%
  • Last place: 5%

There are a few small changes to our Pool this season. We are now going to be using the online platform OFFICEPOOLS.COM. This site allows our participants to login to our pool and select their players, as opposed to having our volunteers manually entering all selections as in the last few years. The cost to participate is $20.00.  From 24 to 48 hours after HMIP has received your registration form and payment, you will receive an email at the address you provided. The link in the email will provide you access to our pool online for you to submit your choice of players. There will be two ways to submit your form and payment. You can send them to our mailbox or bring them in an envelope to the Omni Center (375 Boul. Cardinal Léger, Pincourt, Québec, J7W 9H6), or leave it with your team manager of coordinator of your level.
Another fun new addition to our pool, for each 10 individual Pool participants you submit to AHMIP, you will be given one free entry in your name! Please ensure that each entry you provide has your name noted in the “Referred by” line.
We will again be using the “Block Format” pool, where you will be able to select one player per block of 6 choices. This season there are 16 blocks for forwards, 5 blocks for defense and 3 blocks for goalies, for a total of 24 choices. There are no trades allowed. Points will be counted as follows:

  • Players: Goal +1, Assist +1
  • Goalies: Win +1, Shutout +1

This project is an opportunity to invite your family, friends, neighbors and co-workers to participate in a fun and friendly pool that will make this AHMIP and NHL hockey season even more entertaining! Please help us make this fundraiser a success!

Excellent opportunities for AHMIP members in Trois-Lacs

In recent years, school programs have taken up a lot of space in the minor hockey landscape. During the next season, more than 180 players from the Trois-Lacs area will participate in the region's school programs. The majority of these players would play in our Trois-Lacs association on a competitive level. This has created challenges to replace them but also great opportunities for new players. Here are several measures that have been put in place to promote the participation of our members at the competitive level while meeting the needs of our members:

• Reduced cost of the Trois-Lacs selection camp.

• Decrease of the cost of the Trois-Lacs season.

• Centralization of activities at St-Lazare and Cité-des-Jeunes arenas to reduce the travelling of our members.

• Limit hours of the competitive programs to reconcile hockey, education and family life.

• Creation of a reserved number of places according to the pro rata of the inscriptions of each association to ensure that our players could play with their friends and create an equitable representation of our two participating associations.

• Increased the number of Coordinators, Head Coaches and Assistants from AHMIP in order to match our enrollments to support the leadership presence of our members.

• Create a free weekend during the selection camp at Trois-Lacs for all players interested in participating at level A to become familiar with their activities and recruit new players.

These measures were put in place to encourage the participation of our players by reducing their cost, increasing their quality of life and allowing them to play with their friends in the association of Trois-Lacs.

Registration the Trois-Lacs selection camp are open. Register in large numbers and proudly represent AHMIP at the competitive level.

Trois-Lacs and Soulanges are coupled for the AA class.

There are changes this year at the competitive level AA for some associations including the Soulanges association (AHMS) as well as ours.

If AA is not offered at AHMS or in their territory (Beauval), their AA players can join this class at Trois-Lacs because we are paired with them as a result of a decision by the Lac St-Louis Regional office. Following the selection camp, if the player is cut, he will return to his original association. For the AA camp of Trois-lacs the information will be on our site when available.

The LHTBL won the Single-Letter league of the Year award at the Gala de Hockey Lac-St-Louis on Friday, May 26th. We would like to thank you because the success of the League is due in large part to the participation of all Associations and their members. As of next year, with the arrival of 4 other Associations, we will have other opportunities to raise the league to another level.

Thank you and congratulations!

The Riverains PeeWee C were finalist at the Lasalle Tournament

The Riverains lost to the St-Constant team 3-0 after a great end-of-season tournament.

The Riverains (1-18-5), the majority of whom are beginners, have steadily improved during the season. They went to the semi-finals at the President's Cup losing by only 1-0 against the powerful Chateauguay Seigneurs (21-2-1), who won the overall standings during the regulars season and also the playoffs. Wow what a progress!

Children, parents and coaches were delighted with an unforgettable season.

Proud to be Riverains!

News from the regionals

The Atom A Riverains 1 won the regional championship of the category by a spectacular victory of 3 to 2 in overtime against the Pierrefonds Barons.

The regional championship is the highest honor during a season for a single letter team. Few players or coaches have the chance to win a regional championship during their minor hockey career.

Congratulations to the entire team of players and coaches led by Claude Killen.

-----//-----

The team of Martin Morrisseau, Riverains 1 of the Midget B, also went to the regional final. They lost 4-1 to the powerful Wetsmount Wings. The fact of having made the regional final is already an accomplishment in itself.

-----//-----

We had a great year at AHMIP with 5 representatives from the regional.

In addition to the two previous teams, Riverains 1 of Bantam B, Riverains Bantam A and Midget A Riverains 1 all proudly represented their association at the regional and offered excellent performances by signing several victories and great efforts against very good teams.

Their results can be found at the following link: PublicationSports

President's Cup

Three of our teams took part in the finals of the President's Cup and were very successful.

The Riverains Bantam A won the President's Cup with a brilliant 6-1 victory over the Beauharnois Patriots.

The Riverains 2 Bantam B had excellent palyoffs and created the greatest number of scoring chances in a 3-1 defeat against the HRS Hawks.

At the Atom A level, Riverains 2 lost a tight game against the Soulanges Seigneurs by a score of 3 to 2. They also offered an excellent performance.

Congratulations on these excellent performances!

In addition to these three teams, 18 of our teams played in the playoffs. Many of them took part in the quarter-finals and semi-finals and played hard-fought games.

Several teams even provoked surprises by defeating powerful teams.

Congratulations to all our players for their determination and effort during the President's Cup playoffs!

Bottle Drive

We will have an empty bottles and cans drive on Wednesday April 26th at Metro Pincourt (Boul Cardinal Léger) from 18:30 to 20:30.

The principle is simple, just keep your bottles and cans up to this date. You can also exchange these and keep the money collected to donate to the association. All funds collected are used to pay for the development program.

It is essential that all members of the association participate in the events of our community. Imagine what we can do if all members are involved.

So please keep your Easter bottles and cans in order to hand them over to the benefit of our association’s children.

Last year's record at $ 660 still holds. We will beat him this time with a record participation !!!

Thank you for your participation.

Improve one's skills during summer

These days, many parents are wondering what they can do in order for their children to improve their hockey skills during the summer months. The classic answer is to register them in 3 on 3 hockey leagues, power skating classes, development sessions and specialized hockey camps. However, even if these activities help develop your child’s hockey abilities, it is important for them to discover other sports, according to modern philosophy pertaining to the long term development of any athlete. We invite you to read these 2 articles on this subject.

A present for AHMIP

A gift was presented to us as part of the "Cadillac Chevrolet Buick Ile Perrot" group's "Sharing the Road, Sharing Hope" contest. With each dealership sale, the buyer of the vehicle in question is called to fill out a coupon with the name of an organization he or she chooses and, at the end of each month, a random draw is made and a percentage of sales is given to the organization that has been drawn. The winner in question for the month of February, Daniel Leblanc, chose AHMIP as an organization because his son Alexandre played hockey with us for years. They are still members as Alexandre continues to play junior with Trois-Lacs!

A BIG thank you to Mr. Leblanc and his son Alexandre for their generosity towards the kids of AHMIP.

Winterfest

Like last year, AHMIP is participating in the Pincourt Winterfest at the Olympic Park on Saturday, January 28th. The different levels will be scheduled during the afternoon, please refer to the online schedule. The goal is for kids to have fun playing outside together. You can make a friendly game between two teams or mix players (pickup hockey). As per the members wishes!

The ice rink is open to all and of course you must include the residents who will join you.

For reasons of insurance, members of AHMIP must wear their complete protective equipment. Also wear your game jerseys to promote our activities. However, given the limited space of the cottage, it is necessary to dress up prior to arrival and bring only gloves, skates and helmets.

Bring your team and have fun!

Bottle Drive

We made our second bottle drive on January 4th. Despite the storm that reduced the number of participants, several members came to give their bottles and cans. We managed to raise $ 129. A big thank you to the Gélinas family for their efforts during the evening.

The money is used directly to pay the costs of our development program. What is not paid by fundraising must be charged to the teams. It is therefore important to participate in the various fundraising activities to lower your costs.

We will have a third collection of empty bottles and cans in the spring. The principle is simple, just keep your bottles and cans until the next collection. You can also exchange these and keep the money collected to donate to the association. All funds collected are used to pay for the development program.

Our record last year at $ 660 still holds. We will exceed it this spring with a record participation!!!

So please save your bottles and cans during the holiday season so that we can give them back to the children of our association.

A Successful Magical Christmas

Let us first start off by saying thank you to each and every Mommy, Daddy, office, friend, family member and hockey team that came together to make the 1st HMIP Christmas drive such a huge success. We are humbled by the generosity and outpouring of kindness from everyone. We most certainly couldn't have done it without everyone’s help!

A special shout out to the Novice A1, Atom A2 teams as well as Patrick Soucy who went above and beyond and showed a real team spirit of giving. Also to the mayor of NDIP, Danie Deschênes, who single handedly fed and gave special treats to an entire family.

We collected everything on the “wish list” of ALL of our families and we were even able to send extra gifts and gift cards to the mothers, fathers and children as well. It will definitely be a magical Christmas for our 3 sponsored families. Community wings was absolutely thrilled with our donation.

So, once again, thank you from the bottom of our hearts for making this drive such a success, we look forward to continuing this tradition in the coming years. What a beautiful way to go into the holiday season knowing that we were able to come together as a community and as an association and make the holidays a little more magical.

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!

Death of Mark-Andrew Worth

It was with great sadness that we learned of the death of Marc-André Worth at the age of 44 years following a battle with a strong cancer.

http://www.voluntas.ca/worth-mark-andrew-1971-2016/

He is survived by his sons, Brendon and William and his wife Michelle Terry.

Marc-André was a coach and a volunteer very involved with AHMIP. Always available for our young hockey players to have fun !!

"Work hard, play hard and have fun" was his phrase before every game.

We are soliciting your generosity in these difficult times to help the family go through these difficult times.

We will be at Cité des Jeunes saturday from noon to 6pm and at Macdonald arena on sunday from 7am to 2pm to collect your donations during the weekend.

Thanks in advance for your generosity.

It is critical that all members participate in the events of our community. Imagine what we can do if all members participate.

Please keep your bottles and cans to be able to bring them next week for the benefit of all the children of our Association.

Changes in classification for Elite and Competitive Hockey

First, there will be changes next year for elite hockey (Arsenal; AAA and AA) and competitive hockey (Three Lakes; BB and CC) and for the defeat.

AAA will remain AAA. The AA will become the AAA-relève, the BB will become the AA and CC will become the BB. There will no more CC class.

For more information about the classes and checking, please consult the memo via this link: Memo (French only).

Secondly, for the 2016-2017 season, the administrative region Lac St. Louis gave the opportunity for any association to provide competitive hockey (formerly BB and CC) in individual association, pairing between two associations or continue within an existing zone (ex Trois-Lacs) as before.

The Vaudreuil-Dorion association decided to part with Trois-Lacs and make competitive hockey as an individual association. Thus, their AA and BB players under the new classification will no longer play at Trois-Lacs.

On our part, we have decided to continue our partnership with Trois-Lacs by pairing with AMHRS to offer competitive hockey teams from the Atom to Midget levels. The number of teams and their classes will be determined by Hockey Quebec classification tables as in previous seasons. So there will be no change for members of AHMIP playing at double letters.  They will continue to evolve at Trois-Lacs.

In addition, members from the three associations (including Vaudreuil-Dorion) playing in women's hockey and at junior level will continue to play at Trois-Lacs. Members from the three associations playing at the elite hockey levels will continue to play at Arsenal.

Riverains Bantam A - Season Champions and Playoff Finalists !

The Riverains Bantam A, LHBTL Champion for the 2015-16 season  worked very hard to recover from a 0-2 deficit in the third period of the final on Saturday, March 26. Unfortunately, the Huntingdon Huskies scored in overtime ending the game.

The next day, the Riverains, playing in their second game of the Lac St-Louis Regional Championships, were up against the same Huntingdon team. Playing with a great deal of  determination, the Riverains managed to defeat the Huskies 3-2 in shootout!

The team now continues their path in the Regionals semifinals on Saturday in Ville St-Laurent.

Go Riverains Go!

Improve your child's abilities during the summer

Many parents wonder these days what they could do to improve their child for their hockey season in the summer. The classic answer is to enroll in hockey leagues 3 on 3, skating power, development sessions and specialized hockey camps. Although these activities will help children develop hockey, it is especially necessary to expose them to other sports as the modern philosophy of long-term athlete development professes. We invite you to take knowledge of the two relevant articles on the subject.

Here is the story of the week!

Mr Ian Broadley, a friend of the association has a dog named Benson,  a chocolate Lab, who REALY LOVES hockey pucks.  Benson started digging for pucks a few years ago at Ecclestone park in Kirkland.  He finds them around the park  where they take their walks over the winter near a rink. The  pucks get lost in the snowbanks and he loves finding them.

Mr Broadley geneourously decided to donate them to the association!!!

Thank you Mr Broadley and Benson from all of us!

Bottle Drive

We will do a second bottle drive next Wednesday,

It is critical that all members participate in the events of our community. Imagine what we can do if all members participate.

Please keep your bottles and cans to be able to bring them next week for the benefit of all the children of our Association.

HMIP Promotion

AHMIP participated at the NDIP Notre-Dame en Fête annual party to promote our association to the young kids with precision shooting games and box hockey. We entertained dozens of children throughout the evening. We take this opportunity to remember that it is important that all our members gets involved in the promotion of our association with young people to continue recruiting new members and share the pleasure of playing hockey. Talk about the positive experience in minor hockey of your child and do not forget our free season contest.

Effectively, we will draw a free season among the players who referred a new player to the association. The referred new player simply has to write the name of the current member on the registration form.  New players can only be residents of Ile-Perrot, Notre-Dame de l'Ile-Perrot, Pincourt or Terrasse-Vaudreuil and must not have played before or have a family ties with the player referring him.

Thank you

Bottle Drive

Unfortunately, due to a lack of volunteers to conduct our bottle drive on July 11th, we will reschedule a bottle collection night instead.  Members are invited to come and drop their empty bottles and cans to the Metro grocery in Pincourt on boulevard Cardinal-Léger on July 15th between 18h00 and 20h00.  We ask all of our members to retain their bottles and cans and bring them on July 15th order to make this event successful.  The profit from this fundraiser will benefit directly our kids by financing their activities.

Any help is more than welcome.  Please send an email to belindac@sympatico.ca.

As a reminder, volunteers are essential to the success of our association.  When we have the chance of having members organizing activities for the benefit of all, we should try to participate even if we have minimal time in our busy schedule.

Thank you very much for your support.

Bottle Drive in Pincourt

We have a new fundraiser this summer which is a collection of empty bottles and cans. This collection will be held July 11 to 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.. We will pass through the streets of the Pincourt to collect these items in order to raise funds for the activities of our members. Since that date follows the dates of the St-jean and Canada Day, we should be able to collect a lot of bottle and cans. In addition we ask each member to bring their empty bottles to the Omni center on that day. With over 500 members (more than 2000 people including families) it is certain that this event will be a success if everyone gets involved. However, for a success it is imperative to have the help of volunteers during this day. We only need a few hours of your time. We must have a minimum of 40 volunteers for that activity. It is very important that you give your name as soon as possible even if your availability is minimal during that day.

We'll have lots of fun.

Everyone interested in volunteering or needing more details please send an email to belindac@sympatico.ca.

Regionals Results

Here are our teams representing our regions in the regionals.

Congratulations to all the winning teams as well as the teams that came a close second. We had a great season winning 31% of the divisions even though we only had 24% of the teams in the Trois-Lacs region. We were only 1 win short of winning 2 other divisions.

REGIONALS

Trois-Lacs: The results of the regular season games for Trois-Lacs have been compiled. The team that will have accumulated the most points in the standings, including fair play, will represent Trois-Lacs at the Lac St-Louis Regionals. In the event that a category cannot play an equal number of intra-zone games, the pro-rats calculations of the points per games will determine the winning team. In case of a tie, the top team will be determined in the way as in the standings (in this order Wins, least number of Losses, final results between said teams, best goal differential, most fair play points, a draw).

Good luck to all of our teams in the regionals!

Recently at the World Junior Championships at the Bell Centre

Last December 27th, HMIP had the chance to obtain tickets from Hockey Canada for the game between Germany and Canada Dutton the World Junior Championships at the Bell Centre.

More than 60 members had the pleasure of seeing Canada win 4-0. There was plenty of festivities before the game where and our members had lots of fun.

Two little guys from our association had the chance to drive around on the zamboni at the end of the game (James Altiné-Soucy and Zach Coallier who play pre novice and novice) and they will never forget their great experience.

It was a beautiful evening and we hope to get more opportunities like this to share with our members and volunteers.

The Hockey Canada Skills Combine program is a Hockey Canada initiative that allows Atom, Peewee and Bantam players to gauge their skills in a fun and challenging environment. Participants will get a chance to put in practice tests (both on and off-ice) that are part of Hockey Quebec’s Integrated Structure and Hockey Canada’s Program of Excellence.

it is also an excellent occasion to experience how combines are conducted and immerse yourself in an environment our National Team players go through

Players will be tested using Hockey Canada’s National Skills Testing and Standards program and will be able to compare themselves to players across Canada. These tests include: 100’ Dash Forwards/Backwards, Agility Weave, and Agility Transition skate. These tests can be done throughout the season to measure player’s improvements over time.

For the off-ice tests, we will be using the SPARQ Testing program. This series of tests was designed to test athletes of all sports. Hockey Canada has used SPARQ testing at our national junior team summer camp to help with the identification of players for Team Canada. Participants will be able to use their results to generate their SPARQ testing rating at this event.

• The Hockey Canada Skills Camp is open to current Atom, Pee-Wee and Bantam players
• Goalies will partake in the same tests, as well as a specially designed skating test

• The combine will take place on April 17th-18th at Concordia University, Loyola Campus, 7200 rue Sherbrooke, Montréal, QC,  H4B 2A4

Winterfest in Pincourt

Our participation in the Winterfest in Pincourt was a success last weekend.

Braving the cold, we had over 80 players, coaches, parents, brothers, sisters and citizens that had lots of fun on the Olympique ice rink.

Players from pre-novice to bantam took turns on the ice during this wonderful day.

It was a pleasure to see this great mix of people all enjoying a common interest, hockey.

The hot chocolate was delicious and we were able to lend some hockey equipment to citizens who otherwise could not have enjoyed playing our national sport.

Here is a great picture of our brave Novice B2 team.

We want to thank all our volunteers who made this event a success!

Looking forward to seeing even more of you next year!

Pincourt Winterfest

HMIP will be holding hockey activities during the Pincourt Winterfest on January 31st from 12:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Teams from Pre-Novice to Pee-Wee will be taking turns and demonstrating their talent on the outdoor rink at Olympique Park.  The teams will practice some drills and play fun games among themselves.

The goal is to have fun and win the hearts and minds of future players for HMIP.  Thus, every citizen interested in joining teams to practice and/or play will be welcome to do so.  It is a great opportunity for HMIP to recruit players for the upcoming years.

To hold this event we will require volunteers.  The coaches will direct the on-ice activities as usual.  They will ensure proper integration of the citizens in our activities.  We will also require some volunteers off-ice to help prepare the children to participate in the activities.

In order to provide an opportunity for a child to participate, we will need equipment. It would be great to have some skates, hockey sticks and helmets that we could borrow for that day.

Please let us know if you have some equipment we could borrow and/or if you are available to help at info@hmip.org

Thank you very much for your collaboration in making a success of this event.

Sarah Tan of HMIP to the 2015 Jeux du Québec

Congratulations go out to Sarah Tan, a member of HMIP for the last 10 years. After 4 weeks of camp along with some stiff competition from other talented young ladies, Sarah has the honor of being selected as a member of this year's Sud-Quest Bantam Girls team to participate at the Jeux de Quebec which will take place in Drummondville during March break.

During her evaluations, the team management complemented Sarah on her leadership skills both on and off the ice. Her membership on the team and noted leadership skills is a direct reflection of the great work that is being done by our HMIP association and I want to thank Sarah's past and present coaches for the values, discipline and work ethic they helped instill in my daughter.

Wishing Sarah all the best at the Jeux du Quebec 2015.

Keep up the great work with our children HMIP!

A very proud Mom

Nomination of Christian Vernier as the new Disciplinary Committee Director

It is our pleasure to announce the nomination of Christian Vernier as the new Disciplinary Committee Director of our association.

We wish him all the best and we hope he remains as unoccupied as possible.

In fact, we are very proud to say that we haven’t had any case presented to the disciplinary committee since the beginning of this season.

We would in turn like to congratulate our members for their exemplary behaviour and would like to take this opportunity to remind everyone of the code of ethics that must be respected by all our members (»For the managers» tab).

If you have a conflict with another member, please wait 24 hours before letting them know of the conflict. Often, this helps to defuse the situation.

Conflicts often originate from a lack of communication. The use of email is not always the best course of action in order to solve a conflict. Often, all that is necessary is to allow for a little time to pass; then discussions can be done calmly with the other person and the conflict often resolves itself.

If you need help in order to solve a conflict, you can always talk to someone in a higher position to obtain advice.

Development clinics on Wednesdays

We have noticed that at certain levels, many players are missing during the development clinics on Wednesdays. We would like to take this opportunity to remind you that these practices are considered the same as team practices and all players must be present. These development sessions have been put in place in order to help our players’ progress with the aid of high calibre and very experienced coaches. Everybody’s participation would be greatly appreciated!

Something new:  From now on, goalies are invited to every practice of their level. For example, a Pee-Wee goalie can take part in every Pee-Wee level practice, even if his team is not on the ice. This will give our goalies more ice time and help with their progress.

The team coaches are also invited to participate in these practices.

Thank you and we hope the rest of your season goes well.

Sébastien Carrière,
Head coach HMIP

Training camp hockey jersey

The beginning of the season is rapidly getting close. The get back into shape sessions will take place this weekend. At the entrance of the arena, a hockey jersey to be used for the training camp and your practices throughout the year will be given. This jersey is essential for the proper conduct of the evaluation camp for your child. These jerseys are of a specific color and number which, unfortunately, prevent using the jerseys from previous years that are in your possession.

The cost of the shirt is $ 20 and will have to be paid at the welcoming table during your first hockey session.

We know that this is unpleasant to many of our members especially for older ones with multiple jerseys from previous years or from different hockey camp. However, this process is not unique to our association but rather common among hockey associations.
We are actively working to find a replacement for seasons to come. Unfortunately it was not possible to find an alternative for this season.

Thank you for your understanding,

Fusion of The Beauval - Trois Lacs and theSud-Est  leagues

The 2014 - 2015 season is fast approaching; it looks exciting with several new features. The Beauval - Trois Lacs league and theSud-Est  league fuse together and will now be known as the Ligue de Hockey de la Trente-Ouest (LHTO). This league will include three areas which include 11 minor hockey associations in the region.

With the exception of the Midget category, there will be a certain number of inter-conference games. The season ends with the series and the Grand Final to win the President's Cup and so have the name of his team engraved.

In mid-September, the website of the league will be based; you will find schedules, league rules and other relevant information. It is with great pleasure and excitement of that year I started the season on Oct. 4 in some categories.

We are convinced to offer a very attractive league where players, no matter their level, can compete and have fun. Have a great season!

Cities financial contributions

During last spring, the Board of HMIP has approached the cities to increase the financial contribution of their residents.

The Cities of Pincourt and NDIP had already responded positively and we lowered the inscriptions fees of their residents.

We are very pleased to announce that Ile Perrot will also increase its financial contribution to its citizens. The registration fees for residents of Ile Perrot will be reduced by $50 for players from Initiation to Midget levels. This decision has just been announced. Ile Perrot residents who had already registered will be refunded. We will communicate the details later.

Unfortunately, the City of Terrasse-Vaudreuil took the decision to reduce their financial contribution and change their funding mode to their citizens. Their citizens will now be directly reimbursed. This had the effect of increasing the registration fees for Terrasse-Vaudreuil residents. Nevertheless, the city continues to support minor hockey for their citizens. We will work to improve the grant of the City in the coming seasons.

Through the actions undertaken, we obtained a reduction of registration fees for more than 95% of our membership.

We would like to take the time to thank Corinne Cleary, Nicolas LeBlanc and Patrice Castonguay for their involvement and Josiane Asselin, Simon Grenier and Michel Leduc for their support in our efforts.

Thank you

Development sessions - Novice to Midget levels

Due to popular demand, we will be holding development sessions this year for the Novice to Midget levels. The objective is for each team to participate during 7 hours of development in the course of the season. These sessions will take place on Wednesday nights and will be supervised by two excellent, renowned coaches, Joey Deliva and Dave Paré.

Initially, we were looking to finance these development sessions with some fundraising. Unfortunately it was not possible to secure our main fundraising event from last year, the Ford Event, which generated more than $5000. We must therefore find an alternative to raise the funds needed for the development sessions scheduled for 2014-2015. The best way to do this, as per both the board committee and hockey committee, is to bill each team $300 which must be added to their budget in order to pay for these sessions. Although this may seem like a large sum of money, it represents only $20 per player on a 15-player team. This, in turn, works out to be only $3 per hour of development per player.

Here are the points that were considered before making this decision:

  • A team budget is primarily used for tournaments, player development / ice rentals and end-of-year party.
  • Team budgets ranged from $3000 to $12 000 in the association last year. $300 represents 10% or less of the team’s budget.
  • Many teams participate in 4 tournaments per year. Each tournament costs approximately $750 per team and often only guarantees two games. We are offering development, for an entire year, at only 40% of the cost of one tournament.
  • A single development session normally costs our teams between $300 and $400, including coaches and ice time. In comparison, we are offering 7 hours of development, supervised by highly qualified coaches, at the lowest price possible for one session.
  • The majority of the end-of-year parties cost our teams more than $300 and, even though they are much appreciated by our members, they do not contribute to the hockey development of our children.

In order to ensure long term financing of our development program, we are working on exploring new fundraising ideas as well as creating a permanent fundraising committee who will help us organise events in order to raise the monies needed. We invite you to take part in this.

Thank you for your understanding,

To do this, three specific game situations have been identified. Of course, they are already the subject of vigilance, and for several years.

New regulation in force (revised)

Hello,

Here is a revised regulation by Lac St-Louis in force since Dec. 9:

In order to avoid humiliating an opponent and better control overflows when a team does not compete with his opponent, the game will be shortened after the second period if the difference is greater than 7 goals. The third period time will be shortened.  The detail of the Regulation is attached here
(french only, sorry) . I would like to bring to your attention the note on the existing rule of Lac-St-Louis, if the difference of 7 goals occur before the end of the second period, the goals does not continue to add up on the scoreboard. So we should not see the scoreboard a score of 10-0.

Thank you for your cooperation.
